Disintergration Revealed

May 1 has come and it is time for the Disintegration Reveal started by Seth Apter last January. My bundle has been through the New Mexico sun, rain, snow, and canyon winds. When I opened it three hornets came out of it. That would not have been so bad except I had already taken it into the studio. They were not happy but I was able to get them back outside. My papers came through the ordeal quite well. They have faded and weathered but they still look strong. I have saved all the strings. Now I"ll have to figure out a cool project to make out of this stuff.

great story about the hornets! My bundle is still outside because of the wildlife in it. Thanks for stopping by my project photos. Looks like you got some nice wear on your papers, and maybe even the beginning of a hornet's nest.

Oh boy. Wouldn't it have been great if you'd had hornets nest stuff in there! Maybe they thought it was a ready-made nest.

i had sluggy things, like the inside of a snail. . .but other fun story... pecking at our front door. a wild free form of very 3D brances in a wreath form hung there, and birds had decided to begin their nest in it!! we took it down, but i've been meaning to photograph it..i will. and, i love the colors in your piece, too. lovely spring sunlight on those spring green pages!!

Hornets, oh my! I found a yellow jacket once in a gardening glove well past summer, and it wasn't happy. Me either, after I stuck my hand in the glove! Glad you escaped OK. Thanks for your comment. Wasn't the Disintegration fun? Your papers look great. Good thing the birds didn't get your string for nests! - Jeanne in Oregon

I'm really enjoying how everyones bundles have turned out. I think we are all a bit surprized at how strong paper is, and how quickly they get taken up as homes for bugs and other things. I got slugs and slaters, but they didn't stay long

You are ever so kind to let the hornets live .... It will be fun to see what sort of beautiful works of art emerge :)

so interesting that so many of us had insects take up residence (just a couple of tiny spiders for me).

have fun creating!
